Honor Society Again Gets Five Stars

The ACTC Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society received its 15th consecutive Five Star rating at the Kentucky Regional Conference held March 12and 13 at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.

The Five Star rating, the highest rating possible, is based on completion of a variety of college and community service projects, honors topic activities, participation and leadership in regional activities, and entry in at least five international hallmark competitions.

The Alpha Omega Gamma Chapter also received Service Hallmark, Leadership Hallmark, Scholarship Hallmark and Distinguished Chapter Awards.

Chapter President Douglas C. Foster, Jr., a Louisa resident, received the Distinguished Chapter Member Award and the Shining Star Award which was based on the recommendation of the Kentucky Regional Officers.

Foster was also named to the Kentucky Region Phi Theta Kappa All-Kentucky Academic Team. All Academic Team members are selected on the basis of outstanding academic rigor and grade point average; participation in honors programs; awards, honors and recognition for academic achievement, and service to the college and community.

Chapter Recording Secretary Chapter Wendy R. Kelley, an Ironton resident, received the Distinguished Chapter Officer Award.

Advisor Dan G. Bailey, an Ashland resident, received a Distinguished Chapter Advisor Award. Bailey is an ACTC professor, counselor and coordinator of academic advising and transfer. John Davis, ACTC assistant professor and coordinator of the business administration program, is also a chapter advisor.

Bailey, Foster, Kelley and Chapter Vice President Rhonda J. Arthur, an Ashland resident, will attend the annual convention April 8 to 10 in Orlando, Fl.

PTK, the international honors society for two year colleges, has more than 2 million members and 1,200 chapters. The Kentucky Region currently has 20 chapters.
