ACTC Recognizes John and Pat Stewart
Ashland Community and Technical College has named the Board Room at the College Drive Campus in honor of John and Pat Stewart. The naming recognizes the Stewarts for their dedication and commitment to the college.
We appreciate the leadership and support shown by John and Pat Stewart, said Dr Kay Adkins, ACTC President and CEO. Their scholarships have helped many students attend college, and their efforts on behalf of college initiatives have helped us better serve our communities.
An Ashland native and ACTC alumnus, Stewart is the retired President of Big Sandy Furniture, Inc. He graduated from Ashland High School, Ashland Community College and the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors Degree in Business/Economics. He was named the colleges Distinguished Alumnus in 2005.
He has been on the ACTC Board of Directors for 10 years and has been the Board Chair for nine years. He serves on the Boards of the Community and Technical College Foundation of Ashland, Inc., Kings Daughters Medical Center, Town Square Bank, National City Bank and the Ashland Alliance. He is an active member of Holy Family Church in Ashland.
Pat Stewart is also an ACTC Alumna and UK graduate with a degree in education. She taught in the Ashland School System and then in Holy Family School for several years.
For many years, the Stewarts have supported educational initiatives, scholarships and ACTC Foundation projects, including the Child Development Center, Golf Tournament and the current BuildSmart Campaign for renovating the original building at College Drive Campus.
