ACTC Playwrights Featured as New Works December 3 4

 

Plays by Ashland Community and Technical College employees Jonathan Joy and Sarah Diamond Burroway will be included in the New Works 2015 staged readings this weekend in the Renaissance Theatre in Huntington, WV.

Joy is Assistant Professor of English. He will be the guest playwright at a reception on December 4 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., and his play Pilfering Rome will be presented at 8:00 p.m. A Huntington resident and Marshall University graduate, Joy is a prolific writer, with more than 25 plays to his credit. His work has been produced in 12 states, including Off-Broadway stages in New York City. He has taught a playwriting class at ACTC for two years.

Burroway is Director of Grants and Contracts. Her play, Keeping Traditions, will be presented December 5 at 2:00 p.m. She was a student in Joys first playwriting class. Her plays have been featured in several venues, including the Kentucky Playwrights Workshop New Play Series performances at the 2015 Kentucky State Fair.

Another Joy playwriting student Tish Maynard will have her play Memento Mori presented December 12 at 12:00 p.m.

New Works 2015 is presented by ARTS Resources for the Tri-State, a non-profit organization for the visual and performing arts.
