ACTC Offers State Registered Nurse Aid Training

People who want to get started in a health care career can take a short-term course at ACTC to become a State Registered Nurse Aid (SRNA).

The growth of SRNA jobs in Kentucky is projected to 1ncrease 23% from 2006 to 2016. In Kentucky, 90% of the SRNAs earn an average of $14.19 per hour with an average yearly wage of $29,500.

The eighty-hour SRNA course trains health care assistants in basic skills necessary to assist nurses in a variety of health care settings and to be efficient health care team members. The four-week class meets Tuesday through Friday evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. or Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The class fee, based on ACTC tuition rates, is $390, plus $20 for liability insurance and approximately $62 for the book. Those who complete the class earn three college credits and can then take the state licensing exam.
