ACTC Honor Society Wins State Awards, Inducts New Members
ACTCs Alpha Omega Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has been named a Five-State Chapter for the 18th consecutive year. The award was presented at the Kentucky Regional Convention held in April in San Antonio, Texas.
The Chapter also received a Distinguished Chapter, Honors in Action Project, Honors in Action Theme and College Project Awards. Distinguished Chapter Officer Awards went to President John C. Chapman, a Catlettsburg resident, and Vice President for the College Project Rachel M. Pennington, an Ashland resident. A Distinguished Chapter Member award went to Ashland resident Katlyn M. Hunt.
Associate Professor John M. Davis received a Distinguished Chapter Advisor Award. Professor Dan G. Bailey received both Kentucky and International Continued Excellence Awards for Advisors. He also received a plaque in recognition of his six years as the Advisor Representative on the Phi Theta Kappa International Board of Directors.
Attending the Phi Theta Academy held prior to the convention were members Rachel Pennington, Amanda D. Harris and Aaron G. Reed from Ashland and Margie Holbrook from Raceland. Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College. There are over 2.5 million members in 1,285 chapters worldwide. The Kentucky Region has 22 chapters.
ACTC Honor Society Induction
Forty-five ACTC students were inducted into the Alpha Omega Gamma Chapter on May 1.
The Induction Ceremony on May 1 included a welcome by ACTC President Kay Adkins and a keynote address by Steve Woodburn, Dean of Student Success amp; Enrollment Services.

To be eligible for membership, students must have completed at least 18 hours of coursework that can be applied toward an associate degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.25.
Chapter members participate in scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship projects and are eligible to apply for Phi Theta Kappa scholarship to four-year colleges and universities.
