ACTC Graduation is May 15
Ashland Community and Technical College will hold its annual Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 15, at 10:00 a.m. at the Paramount Arts Center.
The Ceremony will recognize 503 students who have earned a total of 1418 credentials: 117 Associate of Arts degrees, 255 Associate of Applied Science degrees, 68 Associate of Science degrees, 152 diplomas and 876 certificates.
Thomas Zawacki, Chair of the Kentucky Community and Technical College Board of Regents, will be the Commencement Speaker. He is a retired General Manager for Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing America and is currently Commissioner of Vehicle Regulation in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
The student speaker will be Douglas Foster, Jr., an Louisa resident who is graduating with an Associate in Applied Science Degree with high honors.
The college will present the Distinguished Alumnus Award to Terry R. Fyffe, CPA, ABV, a managing shareholder with the Fyffe Jones Group. He is Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Community and Technical College Foundation of Ashland, Inc., ACTCs fund-raising arm.
The Distinguished Service Award will go to Michael W. Hobbs, a certified financial planner with Hobbs Financial Services and an attorney with McKenzie, Wollery amp; Webb. Hobbs is Secretary for the Community and Technical College Foundation of Ashland, Inc.
The college will also award the third annual Gussler Family Endowed Chair in Math and Science Award to a faculty member who has fostered and encouraged students to reach their maximum potential.
The ceremony is free and open to the public.
