ACTC Fall Theatre Classes Are Open to All
Theatre courses at Ashland Community and Technical College are open to theatre majors, students who seek an interesting elective class and community residents who would like a creative outlet or personal interest class. The fall classes listed below are all for three credit hours, and all are held at the College Drive Campus.
Introduction to Theatre: Principles and Practice (THA 101) cultivates students judgment, perception, and creative response to theatre, emphasizing what and how theatre communicates through examining both the processes and the products of theatre. This class counts as a Humanities course for students who are working on an associate degree. The class is offered at two different times: Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m.
Fundamentals of Acting (THA 126) explores a broad spectrum of skills in the creative process of acting ensemble. Class activities include improvisation, movement disciplines (including theatre games, modern dance, and characterization), emotional and sensory awareness, and the process of integrating these into a clearly defined stage technique. The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Stagecraft (THA 260) provides a study of theory, principles and techniques of scenic design and construction. Students will have assignments in practical applications and will be involved in the fall productions of Kiss Me Kate and A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley. Before taking this class, students must have completed Fundamentals of Production (THA 150) or have the consent of the instructor, Edward Figgins. The class meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.
