ACTC Employees Receive KCTCS Awards

Three ACTC employees have received KCTCS 2014 Awards of Excellence for their achievements and dedication to students. The awards recognizing faculty and staff from each KCTCS College were presented May 19 at the KCTCS New Horizons Conference.

Christopher J. Boggs, Associate Professor Computer amp; Information Technology, received the Faculty Award. A Wurtland resident and Greenup County native, he started at the college in 1997. He is currently teaching a wide variety of CIT classes, most of which are geared to assist students in obtaining industry certification.

Boggs has an A.A.S. in Electronic Communication Technology and several industry certifications for Comptia, Cisco and Microsoft. He serves on the Faculty Council and the Strategic Enrollment Management, Distance Learning and Professional amp; Organizational Development committees as well as the KCTCS Digital Literacy amp; CIT Curriculum Committee. He is Co-Director of ACTCs Lego Robotics competition and serves on the technology advisory boards for several local high schools. He is a 2013 Kentucky Master Teacher.

James A Clayton, Information Technology Assistant, received the Support Staff Award. An Ashland resident and U. S. Army veteran, he started in the college maintenance department in 2004. He moved into Information Technology after receiving an AAS in Business Administration from ACTC.

Clayton currently maintains computers and related equipment at the Technology and Roberts Drive Campuses and is also responsible for department inventory control and repair part management with the DELL Computers Support Team. He is a member of the ACTC Safety amp; Security and Professional Development Committees. He will complete an AAS in Information Technology, Network Track this semester at ACTC.

Steven D. Flouhouse, Dean of Institutional Planning, Research, and Effectiveness, received the Administrative Staff Award .A Barboursville resident and Barboursville High School graduate, he started at the college as an introductory accounting instructor in 1991. He currently oversees planning, research, assessment, Perkins student follow-up, and regional accreditation activities for the college. In 2013, he also completed five years as the colleges Title III Project Director.

Flouhouse has served as the colleges accreditation liaison with the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 2001. He has a BBA and MS in accounting from Marshall University. He serves on the ACTC Presidents Leadership Team, College Council and Technology Committee, as well as the KCTCS IE/IR Peer Team. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ashland.
