The Adult Learning Center at Ashland Community and Technical College is holding a GED Ready Blitz in April to help Boyd County residents earn a GED at no cost.
The Center is offering free practice tests in the four GED subject areas: Reasoning through Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Math. Those who pass the practice tests can be scheduled for the official test. In April, the official GED tests will be free, with ACTC Adult Learning paying the $30 fee per test.
The practice tests will be given on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations:
April 1: Boyd Co. Public Library-Main Branch, 1740 Central Ave. in Ashland.
April 8: Boyd Co. Public Library-Catlettsburg Branch, 2704 Louisa St., in Catlettsburg.
April 15: Boyd Co. Public Library-KYOVA Branch, 10699 US Route 60, Suite 920 in Summit.
April 22: ACTC College Drive Campus, Room 167, 1400 College Dr. in Ashland.
“Kentucky Adult Education is paying the practice test fee, and we are paying the GED fees through donations from local agencies and business,” said Penny Qualls, Adult Education Director. “This is a great opportunity for area adults to get a credential that will help them get ahead in life.”
