Ashland Community and Technical College will wrap up its year-long 75th anniversary celebration with free cake at Ashlands Summer Motion Festival. The event will be held July 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in a tent at the Summer Motion site at the Ashland Riverfront.

Chris Tatum, Summer Motion president, will give a short welcome at 11:00 a.m. and then 1,500 cupcakes will be handed out to Summer Motion visitors, first come, first served.

We invite everyone in the Tri-state to come by and share in our celebration of more than seven decades of serving the greater Ashland area, said Dr. Kay Adkins, ACTC President and CEO. We have always received support from the community in our mission to offer affordable educational services. We would like to say thank you to the area residents, students, staff, businesses and organizations that have been with us on this incredible journey.

ACTCs predecessors, Ashland Junior College and Ashland Vocational School, were both started by the City of Ashland in 1938. Over the years, the two institutions changed names as they adapted to changing educational needs. They eventually became Ashland Community College and Ashland Technical College and in 2003 were consolidated into Ashland Community and Technical College.
