Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) is pleased to announce that Seymouria Mitchell and Kyli Springer have been named Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) Scholars for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Thirty-two students, two from each of the 16 colleges, were selected by KCTCS for this prestigious recognition. Students were chosen based on a rigorous process that focuses on academic performance and community service.

Mitchell, from Ashland, is graduating with an associate of arts degree. She is involved in Student Support Services, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Alpha Omega Gamma Chapter, and AmeriCorps.
"Being recognized as a KCTCS Scholar means so much to me,” said Mitchell. “It reflects the hard work, growth, and determination it has taken to get to this point. I'm thankful for every challenge that made me stronger, and for the people who believed in me along the way. This honor reminds me that where you come from does not limit where you can go."

Springer, from Flatwoods, is graduating with an associate degree in medical information technology. She is a tutor for Student Support Services, an AmeriCorps peer leader, and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Alpha Omega Gamma Chapter president, as well as the Kentucky regional elect president for 2026-2027.

“It feels surreal that I would even be considered for being a KCTCS scholar,” said Springer. “When I first came back to college, I was worried that I wouldn’t even make it through the first semester. Now I’m finishing up my fifth and have excelled in my classes. Receiving this honor really puts into perspective how far I’ve come.”
