ACTC to host lineman orientation June 30

Published on Jun 18, 2025

Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) will host an orientation for its lineman program on Monday, June 30, welcoming the next class of students preparing for careers in the electrical utility industry.

The orientation will begin at 6 p.m. at ACTC’s Technology Drive Campus in the Rocky Adkins Pavilion. Attendees will receive important program information, meet faculty and staff, and have the opportunity to apply if they have not already done so.

The hands-on program prepares students for careers in the utility industry, with a focus on working on utility poles and electrical lines.

Classes begin Aug. 19. Throughout the program, students can earn certifications including flagger training, CPR, and first aid, ensuring they are prepared for a variety of on-the-job situations.

Students will also obtain their Class A commercial driver’s license, an essential qualification for operating the specialized vehicles used in linework.

Prospective students must be at least 18 years of age and must have a high school diploma or GED.
