ACTC hosts a successful fall lecture series

Published on Nov 6, 2025

Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) recently hosted its Lecture Series from Oct. 28 to Oct. 30.

The Lecture Series is associated with the Transfer Program Fair that is offered at ACTC each semester, which helps students explore academic pathways after graduating from ACTC.

The three-day event features a range of speakers providing a multi-faceted platform for faculty, staff, and invited guests to share their unique experiences and passions, inspiring students to pursue career paths they may not have known existed.

Students are provided with a unique opportunity to get direct advice on how to make their goals a reality, meet new friends, and engage in dialogue.

“By all accounts, this week was a tremendous success,” said Megan Horne, ACTC director, student support services/TRIO and transfer initiatives. “We had a significant turnout, both in-person and remotely, from students, faculty, and staff throughout the week. This event continues to improve every year, and that is only because of our community partners generous contribution of time and effort.”

Speakers from ACTC included Dr. Sara Brown, Pam Klinepeter, Warren Howard, Rob Langford, Janet Thompson, and Valerie Briggs.

Other speakers included Amy McGuire, Russell Independent Schools; Mike Maynard, Hillcrest-Bruce Mission; Scottiann McLain, Ramey-Estep Re-group; Micheal Reynolds, Shawnee State University; Greg Lyons, Shawnee State University; Dr. Nicola Mason, Morehead State University; Dr. Kelli Williams, Marshall University; Dr. Donnell Murray, Morehead State University; Dr. Joe Barnett, Shawnee State University; Brendan Laughton, Marshall University; Dr. Gregory K. Michaelson, Marshall University; and Rick Lee, Lindsey Wilson College.
