ACTC’s Dr. Ferguson appointed to AACC Commission of Public Relations Advocacy and Advancement

Dr. Larry Ferguson, president and CEO of Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC), has been appointed to the American Association of Community Colleges Commission of Public Relations Advocacy and Advancement.

The commission, part of a national advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges, focuses on visioning and messaging for “friend” raising, marketing campaigns, and fundraising efforts. It also fosters collaboration with philanthropic organizations and the private sector to support investment in two-year colleges and addresses emerging trends in communication.

“I am extremely honored to have been appointed to serve on the AACC Commission on Public Relations Advocacy and Advancement,” said Ferguson. “This work is critical for ACTC and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) as we continue our mission of educating with excellence.”

The appointment reflects Ferguson’s ongoing commitment to advancing the role of community colleges nationwide. He currently serves on several local, regional, and national boards and committees including:

- Executive Committee for the Northeast Kentucky Chamber
- FIVCO Regional Development Planning Committee
- TENCO Workforce Investment Board as appointed by Gov. Andy Beshear and currently serving      on the Executive Committee
- Northeast Kentucky Economic Development Authority
- Ashland Area YMCA Board Member
- C.B. Nuckolls Community Center Board Member
 

Ferguson has served as president of ACTC since 2018. His leadership continues to prioritize student success and reflects his dedication to strengthening both ACTC and the broader community it serves.
