ACTC talent showcased in local concert on March 1

Once again, a former Ashland Community & Technical College professor and the son of a current professor will perform in an upcoming concert at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland.

The concert will take place on Saturday, March 1 at 12:30PM.

Max Jackson is an alumnus of Ashland Junior College and retired faculty of Ashland Community College. 

Upon graduation, Jackson went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in organ from Georgetown College, as well as degrees in music from the University of Kentucky and Southern Methodist University.

Jackson taught music at Ashland Community College for over thirty years, conducted choral ensembles, and was the music director for the college’s theatre. 

In addition, he also taught at the University of Kentucky and Georgetown College. 

He has served as an organist and/or choir director at churches in Harrodsburg, Lexington, and Ashland, as well as in Havelock, NC and Ironton, OH. He is currently the organist at the First Presbyterian Church.

Calvin Riggs, son of ACTC faculty Dr. Mark Riggs, will also be performing in the concert.

First Presbyterian Church is located at 1600 Winchester Avenue, Ashland KY.
