Initiated students received a certificate, a pin, and a stole to wear during commencement ceremony.

Tri Alpha is a national honor society dedicated to celebrating the academic accomplishments of first-generation college students. ACTC is very proud to be the first college in the KCTCS system, the tri-state, and the fourth in the state of Kentucky to host a chapter of Tri-Alpha.

“We are a newer chapter and are growing our membership,” said Megan Horne, ACTC’s Director of Student Support Services and Tri-Alpha Advisor. “We are excited about the interest of students in the honor society and look forward to what we can accomplish in the future.”

ACTC’s Tri-Alpha chapter has inducted over 40 members after three semesters.

“I was a first-generation college student when I entered college,” Horne continued. “I know how important it is to have assistance and mentoring by college personnel who understood my needs. As Director of Student Support Services, I try to advise from that perspective, as well. I try to think of the questions that a first-generation college student may not know to ask and provide them with the information they do not yet know they need.”

Students who were eligible for induction this spring include: Erica Brooks, Ronald Conley, Whitney Dallaire, Belinda Dingess, Goldie Gehringer, Caitlin Graham, Misty Hutchinson, Kelsey King, Zoe Leunissen, Norma Lynch, Shaelyn Myers, Amber Sparks, Sheila Stewart, Tonya Redwine, and Keyleigh Stanley.
