ACTC alum “pays it forward” in new recruiting role

It has been two years since Grace Roar graduated from Ashland Community & Technical College.
She entered the doors once again last month, but this time in a new capacity: the college’s newest recruiter.
An alumna of the Business Administration program, Roar says her time at ACTC prepared her to be timely, professional, and organized.
“I was in the Business Management Track in my program, so I had learned skills to be a successful and effective manager that others could look up to,” she said.
After graduating from ACTC, Roar continued to work in the same position that she had interned in during her time as a student. That position eventually evolved into a full-time managerial position in the marketing department.
“My favorite part of my job at the credit union was teaching and helping others better themselves. Unfortunately for me, my position was shifting, and I was no longer able to help as many people as I did before,” she said. “As soon as I saw the position as a recruiter for ACTC I applied immediately. I knew that if I was a recruiter I would be able to do what I love and help people better themselves by convincing them to continue their education.”
She believes her experience as a student at ACTC has fully equipped her to recruit future students to the college.
“I’m excited to be a new resource of knowledge and assistance for prospective students or anyone wanting more information about ACTC,” Roar said. When I was a student at ACTC I learned about so many opportunities that I never knew were available. Most of the opportunities I learned about were different forms of financial aid and help joining the workforce.”
She added, “I believe having this knowledge will give new students more peace of mind knowing that they can get help affording school and continue getting advice once they graduate.”
