Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) was recently awarded a $4,497 grant from the Julian-Carver Family Foundation, Inc. of Versailles, KY in support of its “Articulating Success” project.
The funds will be used to purchase subscriptions to Articulate 360 Standard, an e-learning platform for creating training modules. These training modules will be utilized in the areas of advising, e-learning, and Student Support Services to provide student access to orientations and skills development resources with the goals of increasing total student retention and student success.
“We are excited to provide some new opportunities for our students including a new way of providing orientation materials,” said Dr. Sara Brown, ACTC director of online learning. “We are hopeful that reaching students earlier with resources and important information regarding the college will help increase student success.”
Brown said the new software will also assist in providing training for new employees and continued support for current staff and faculty. She added that the project will involve multiple departments, and she looks forward to collaborating with colleagues across the college.
“We are incredibly grateful to receive this grant, which will play a pivotal role in enhancing our students’ success and retention,” said Dr. Larry Ferguson, ACTC president and CEO. “The new program will empower our students from the very start of their college journey, offering them engaging interactive online orientation and academic modules they will utilize throughout their time as an ACTC student. We are committed to giving our students the best tools possible for success, and this grant allows us to take a significant step forward in that mission.”
The Julian-Carver Family Foundation was established in 2018 to support education in the southern region of the United States so students can achieve academic success and rewarding careers.
It has awarded funds to community and technical colleges across Kentucky to help students persist in completing certificates, diplomas, or degrees.
