Published on Aug 22, 2024

Ashland Community and Technical College is proud to announce a partnership with Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) following the award of an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) POWER Grant in October 2023.

This collaboration is part of a larger initiative to foster a Technology-Focused Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Eastern Kentucky.

“We are beyond excited for this next step and the addition it will add to our existing work around business and innovation,” said Sabrina McWhorter, SOAR Director of Business and Innovation. “SOAR continues to invest in the entrepreneurs in our region and understands that we have to meet them wherever they are.”

SOAR will be presenting an Inspirational Speaker series, with ACTC being one of six host locations.

ACTC will be hosting Kyle Robinson, CEO of Print My Threads, on Technology Drive Campus on Thursday, August 29 at 12 P.M. in the Rocky Adkins Pavilion.

The event is free of charge and open to all.

Print My Threads is an apparel screen printing company that has been local to Ashland since 2009. With a goal of simplifying the process of obtaining custom apparel, they specialize in printing apparel for companies, events and retail clothing lines across the country.

Students will have the opportunity to learn how leaders like Kyle turned challenges into opportunities and transformed ideas into a successful venture.

“ACTC is excited to have Kyle Robinson on campus as part of the SOAR speaker series,” shared ACTC President, Dr. Larry Ferguson. “I have known Kyle personally for many years and he epitomizes what it means to be an entrepreneur. You don’t want to miss this.”
