WIOA Scholarship opportunity for ACTC Surgical Technology students
Published on Aug 6, 2024
The Surgical Technology program at Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) has recently been added to the TENCO Occupational Training List, giving students an exciting opportunity through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) scholarship program.
WIOA provides funding to support students pursuing careers in high-demand fields, covering expenses such as tuition, supplies, childcare, and gas reimbursement. Eligible students can receive up to $4,000 in financial assistance.
These services are federally funded and offered at no cost to the students.
WIOA provides working training, on the job training, work experience, apprenticeships, and occupational skills training scholarships.
“This is an incredible opportunity, not just for our students, but for the profession of Surgical Technology as a whole,” shared Heather Cantrell, ACTC Surgical Technology Program Coordinator.
The Surgical Technology program at ACTC is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, a postsecondary accrediting agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
According to the CAAHEP website, accreditation in the health-related disciplines works to assure a well-prepared and qualified workforce is providing health care services.
Upon completing licensing exams, graduates of the Surgical Technology program at ACTC are Certified Surgical Technologists, the only nationally recognized certification for this profession.
