Ashland Community and Technical College proudly celebrated the achievements of our graduating class at the spring commencement ceremony held on May 3rd at the Paramount Arts Center.

Over 155 students from the 2023-2024 school year were recognized at the ceremony.

“We are privileged to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of our students,” said ACTC President/CEO, Dr. Larry Ferguson. “This momentous occasion represents their hard work, dedication, and growth. It is not only a celebration of academic achievement, but also a testament to the resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit of our graduates.”

The ceremony brought together distinguished faculty, staff, families, and friends. ACTC Alumni Kathryn Barber Roberts and Susan Barber Martinez were in attendance as the guest speakers to give the commencement address. They were also recognized as the 2024 Distinguished Alumni during the ceremony.

“College isn’t always easy,” Martinez shared in the commencement address. “But I truly hope that you will look back with fond and loving memories of your time at ACTC about all of the benefits that ACTC has afforded you.”

Roberts concluded the speech by encouraging the graduates with a final thought, “We can say with full confidence that our success started at Ashland Community and Technical College, and now you are all among an elite group we love to call ‘alumni’. Congratulations, you did it!”

Dr. Alan Alley and Wendy Fosterwelsh were also recognized as the 2024 Gussler Fellow award recipients, as well as the KCTCS All-Academic Team, consisting of Scott Davis, Haley Eastwood, and Shawna Ratliff.

Student Government Association President, Laynee Stanley, and Vice President, Carly Ferguson, gave the student address.

“As we look back on our time here, we are reminded of the countless accomplishments, both big and small, that have shaped us into the individuals we are today,” Stanley shared in her address. “From our first day on campus, to this day of graduation, we have grown in ways we never thought possible. To my fellow graduates, I urge you to hold onto the spirit of accomplishment that burns within you. Let it be your guiding light as you navigate the twists and turns of life. Let it remind you that you can achieve greatness, no matter your obstacles.”

The event was livestreamed by MyTown TV, giving family and friends who were unable to attend the opportunity to still participate and enjoy the ceremony from home.

As ACTC bids farewell to the graduating class, we wish our graduates success and fulfilment in their future endeavors.
