ACTC Professor Coy Hall Releases Fifth Novel
November 9, 2023
Coy Hall, Ashland Community and Technical College professor of History, is releasing his fifth novel, A Séance for Wicked King Death.
The book is releasing from Shotgun Honey on November 10 and will be available for purchase in paperback and e-book anywhere books are sold.
A Séance for Wicked King Death is a crime/noir novel set in 1956 in Huntington, West Virginia.
“I’d wanted to write a novel set in our local area for some time, and this story was an opportunity to do that,” said Hall. “It was fun bringing 1956 Huntington to life – the people, the buildings, the mood. I went for realism. It’s a fictional tale, but the details forming the backdrop are very real.”
A Séance for Wicked King Death follows main character Royce Pembrook, a charming and clever ex-con who found himself working for a wage on the wrong side of town. When he helps an old colleague flee from the city, he finds himself surrounded by his former fraudulent world of ghost talk, parlor tricks, and black-veiled mourners.
Other titles by Hall include Grimoire of the Four Impostors, The Hangman Feeds the Jackal: A Gothic Western, The Promise of Plague Wolves and A Pantheon of Thieves and Other Weird Tales. For more information about his publications, visit www.coyhall.com.
