Student art showcase opening slated for Friday

April 19, 2023

ASHLAND, Ky. – Ashland Community and Technical College is honored to celebrate the hard work of our art students by hosting a showcase of student work.

The opening of the student art showcase will take place on Friday, April 21 from 5pm to 7pm at Broadway Books in downtown Ashland.  (1537A Winchester Avenue next to The Mill). The Mill will be serving hors d’oeuvres at the event.

There will be around 50 pieces of art showcased from ACTC’s Art 100, Drawing I, Drawing II, and Painting students.

“The students have worked hard in their studio classes as well as the introduction to art class. Getting to show off what they have done is super exciting,” said Wendy Fosterwelsh, art professor.

The following students will have artwork at the showcase: Jaidyn Wireman, Leo Williams, Maryann Stalker, Isaac Smith, Victoria Reed, Krista Payne, Diana Parker, Brian Nelson, Addison Mayo, Nicholas Martin, Garett Leach, Alex (Robert) Lambert, Michaela Huff, Shelbie Hood, Solomon Harrison, Cole Fletcher, Stephanie Dunaway, Jackson Childers, Reagan Christian, Kenneth Cassity, Violet (Katelyn) Bryant, Kylie Busick, Savanna Broughton, and Natalie Belville.

“I am sure many people know some of these students from their classes or working with them on campus,” Fosterwelsh added. “The students see me looking at their art every day, so I think they would be pretty thrilled to see their other professors, fellow students, and the staff that have supported them as they weave their way through college looking at their art.”

The showcase will remain at Broadway Books through May 1.
