Early childhood education conference held at ACTC

March 22, 2023

ASHLAND, Ky. – In collaboration with Ashland Independent Early Childhood Regional Training Center and the Northeast Alliance Early Childhood Collaborative, Ashland Community and Technical College was honored to host the 2023 Spring Institute, a professional learning opportunity for preschool teachers and administrators.

The conference was held last Friday at ACTC’s Technology Drive Campus and over 100 educators were in attendance.

This year’s theme was “Influence! Impact! Illuminate!” The keynote presentation featured a panel discussion of six teachers discussing “hot topics” and answering questions from the audience.  Topics included: family engagement, transition into preschool, and planning effective practices.

“The 2023 Spring Institute is an amazing collaborative effort,” said Dr. Shannon Hankins, Associate Dean of Technical Education.  “We are laser-focused on meeting the professional learning needs of the teachers of our youngest learners. It is always wonderful seeing these teachers get together and share the amazing work they are doing in their classrooms.”

Concurrent sessions were facilitated by presenters from the Kentucky Department of Education, Visually Impaired Preschool Services, Simpson County Early Childhood Regional Training Center, Boyd County Public Schools, and the Kentucky School for the Blind.
