ACTC English honor society to hold book drive
November 22, 2021
ASHLAND, Ky. – Ashland Community and Technical College’s Sigma Kappa Delta students are hosting a Children’s Literature Drive.
ACTC’s Sigma Kappa Delta's Mu Delta chapter is an English honor society for two-year colleges. The club promotes academic excellence and fosters students’ interest in all aspects of English, including literature, language, and both creative and critical writing.
“Reading is a fundamental skill in every child’s brain development. Reading books out loud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. Reading helps children develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word,” said Laura Tussey, Sigma Kappa Delta advisor.
Tussey is asking that the community contribute by donating new or gently used books to the drive by December 1.
Books can be dropped off to Professor Tussey visiting the College Drive Campus (Room 347), or by calling (606) 326-2208 to arrange for pick-up.
