Industrial Maintenance program open house set for June 21

June 15, 2021

ASHLAND, Ky. – Mark Smith, program coordinator for the Industrial Maintenance Technology program at ACTC will be hosting a “mini open house” where incoming students to the program can visit the shop and meet him before Fall classes begin.

Prospective students who are considering enrolling in the program are also invited to attend the open house.

The open house will be June 21 from 9 A.M to 12 P.M. at the ACTC Technology Drive Campus (TDC). The physical address of the campus is 902 Technology Drive Grayson Kentucky 41143. The campus is located near Grayson, Kentucky – just off Interstate 64, exit 179.

“This open house will give new and perspective students the opportunity to fully understand just what a maintenance technician does,” said Smith. “Many young people do not have a full understanding of all the skills required to be a maintenance technician. The modern maintenance technician is more than just a machine mechanic, we deal with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical circuits, welding, machining, motor controls, programmable logic controllers, industrial robotics and the ability to read blueprints. The potential to learn is almost unlimited and the more you learn the more valuable you will become to a perspective employer.”

He added, “Current graduates work in industry all across the tri state and beyond. Every factory and every physical plant require maintenance technicians to keep it running, if not for us industry would grind to halt. So, anyone interested in learning more should come check out this in demand and exciting career that has excellent pay and above average career growth.”

Enrollment Services will be available to assist with any questions as well.

Registration is not required, but those who would like to RSVP can do so by https://actc-imt-june21.eventbrite.com.

Visitors can check-in at the TDC Welcome Center upon arrival.

There will also be an open house for the Computerized Manufacturing and Machining (CMM) program at the same date/time.
