ACTC hosts first job fair
April 26, 2021
ASHLAND, Ky. – Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC), in partnership with the Ashland Alliance, held a job fair for current ACTC students and alumni Friday.
Attending the job fair were 20 employers with a total of 36 company representatives. There were 70 students, representing many different programs, who participated. This number included alumni and graduating students seeking employment and current students seeking employment or internship opportunities for the summer or fall.
"We decided to host a job fair, jointly with the Ashland Alliance, to provide local industry the opportunity to talk with our students about job/internship opportunities. It gave ACTC students the chance to briefly summarize their skills/experience and explain why they would be a good fit for that organization,” said Molly Webb, Career Services Coordinator. “With COVID restrictions over the last year, many students have never experienced an in-person interview. It was great to see and hear face to face conversations between students and employers in a relaxed environment.”
She added, “The Career Services department will plan to host another job fair in the future. It is a win-win situation for all involved.”
Employers who attended included: Cintas, City of Ashland, Ashland Police Department, Members Choice Credit Union, Pathways, Vesuvius USA, IBEW 575 Electrical Training Academy, Millwrights, IBEW 317 of Huntington, Manpower, PureCycle Technologies, Valero Renewables, Greenbo Lake State Park, BoydCat, CJ Hughes Construction, Vertiv, Plumbers, Steamfitters, and HVACR Local 248, and Boyd County Fiscal Court –Parks and Recreation and Community and Economic Development, Kings Daughter’s and Smithfield Foods.
Career Services is open Monday through Thursday from 9 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
Office hours may vary mid-May through June. The department is closed the month of July and will reopen in August.
