ACTC offering one-semester nail tech course

ASHLAND, Ky. – The cosmetology department at Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) will be offering a Nail Technician certification course, which begins May 10.
Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Spots in the course are limited, so enroll early!
The one-semester course runs through July 30. After successful completion of the course and 450 clock hours, students can sit for their licensure exam.
The course covers all nail services from manicures, pedicures and acrylics. It also provides knowledge of the art and science of nail technology, as well as applying the rules and regulations of the Kentucky Board of Cosmetology as it should be used in the salon.
The course also introduces bacteriology and infection control through the practice of disinfection procedures, as well as the study of the cells and structure of the hand and arm.
Students will also learn about beauty salon management, including the practice of interacting with clients, co-workers and supervisors.
ACTC’s admissions application is free to complete.
Those who enroll in the course should follow up with the Office of Financial Aid once registered for summer financial aid packaging information.
