What is Interlibrary Loan?
If ACTC does not own an item that you need, the library may be able to borrow it for you from another institution.

How do I request a book or article?
Come to the ACTC Library circulation desk and fill out a request form. You will need a complete bibliographic information-author, title, publisher, and date. For a periodical article you will also need the date of the journal and page numbers.

You do not need to know what libraries own the material. Library staff will do a nationwide search to locate the nearest copy of the item.

How long does it take to receive an item?
Most loans are received in ten to twelve days. However, depending on the availability of the item, it may take longer.

What does interlibrary loan cost?
Most interlibrary loans within the state of Kentucky are free to users. Some libraries however, charge a fee for loaning their materials. The fee may be as much as $25.

We will always tell you in advance if you will have to pay to obtain an item, and you have the option to cancel your request.

You are responsible to pay any costs incurred if you keep interlibrary loans overdue, or if you damage or lose items.

Who can use interlibrary loan?
Ashland Community & Technical College Library students, faculty, and staff. You must have an ACTC library card to use interlibrary loan. Users who owe more that $20 in fines or who have lost books can not use interlibrary loan until those charges are paid.
