The ACTC Placement Policy establishes criteria that must be met in order to enter college level courses. The Kentucky Community and Technical College System requires that students enrolling in KCTCS colleges for the purpose of earning credit applicable toward an education credential (certificate, diploma, and associate degree) must demonstrate through the submission of scores on specified assessment instruments that they possess the minimum academic skills essential for success. Students who do not demonstrate these academic skills must remedy the identified skill deficiencies prior to enrolling in entry-level courses for which those skills are essential.
Note: For students seeking a certificate or diploma, concurrent enrollment in program courses and developmental instruction is permitted. Since the policy requires concurrent enrollment, students will not be allowed to drop developmental courses without also dropping technical program courses.
