ACTC Theatre Presents 20th year of "A Christmas Carol"

Ashland Community and Technical College Theatre will present A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley on December 5, 6 and 7 at 8:00 p.m. and December 8 at 2:30 p.m. Performances are in the J. B. Sowards Theatre on the College Drive Campus.

This is ACTC Theatre’s 20th presentation of the heartwarming tale of Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, and Tiny Tim.   The classic novel by Charles Dickens, adapted to the stage by Israel Horowitz, has become a holiday favorite for all ages.

“New costumes, props and scenery have been added to make this year’s anniversary production more elaborate than ever,” said Edward Figgins, Associate Professor of Theatre and Communications and ACTC Director of Theatre.

The production features repeat performances by Ashland residents William “Bill” Stambaugh as “Scrooge” and Roger Hagley as “Jacob Marley.”  Stambaugh is the Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor for the City of Ashland, and Hagley is ACTC’s Multi-media Producer.

ACTC students and Ashland residents Ben Pooler and Jessica English portray “Bob Cratchit” and “Mrs. Cratchit” respectively.  Former ACTC Theatre major Haven Martin from Ashland is Scrooge’s nephew “Fred,” and Morgan Casto, a Russell High School senior from Wurtland, is “Fred’s Wife.” Malachi Stevens, a Poage Elementary student from Ashland, is “Tiny Tim”

The rest of the cast includes more than 40 tri-state area adults and students from third grade through college.

Professor Figgins is the Director and Scenic/Lighting Designer. Max Jackson, ACTC Professor Emeritus of Music is the Musical Conductor, and ACTC Theatre Costumer Paula Krepsik is the Costume Designer.
