The Child Development Center will be located on property purchased by the Foundation over several years on Harlan and Ramey streets. A facility designed for child care is urgently needed to serve our students that must have child care to attend college.
Nearly 60% of ACTC students are non-traditional and many have children. This Center will provide child care for children of our students and will also provide real world experiences for those students enrolled in the Early Childhood Development Program.
At the recommendation of our President, the Foundation sold the One The Oaks property on June 1, 2009 so the proceeds from the sale of One The Oaks could be applied toward the construction of the Child Development Center. One The Oaks was the former home of Harold & Ruie Kelley, long time supporters of ACTC. Mr. & Mrs. Kelley gave this property to the ACTC Foundation in 1995. It served as the residence of the current and previous ACTC President for nearly ten years.
The Foundation will be investing the following toward construction of the Child Development Center:
